POSITION SUMMARY



This role is responsible for shift production in an assembly environment. Key accountabilities include meeting schedule commitments while fostering a safe, high quality, top productivity, employee focused environment on an ongoing basis.
The normal hours for the day shift are 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, from Monday through Thursday and 7:30 am to 3:30 pm on Friday. Additional shift overtime in support of customer needs is required, and attendance and active participation in planning sessions or group meetings is expected.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Talent Development

      • Coach, counsel, direct, train and generally supervise a staff of assemblers to meet productivity and workmanship standards on a regular basis.
      • Recognize and encourage positive contributions and identify opportunities for improvement. Actively participate in the hiring process.
      • Drive process changes through communication and consistent direction.
  • Production
      • Manage employees to production expectations and efficiency metrics.
      • Meet or exceed weekly production plans by allocating staffing, reviewing raw material supplies, and through an ongoing review of status to address issues and opportunities.
      • Working in partnership with manufacturing management to assure safe, smooth, and efficient workflow and timely processing of orders and materials by assigning and monitoring of work.
      • Responsible for ensuring employees are working efficiently and safely.
      • Actively available to remove production obstacles and answer questions quickly and accurately.
      • Receive incoming inventory on a daily basis and give materials an inventory location.
      • Schedule work assignments for assembly employees on a daily basis.
      • Ensure all material has been picked for assembly per job requirement.
      • Release travelers and make sure all documentation is correct.
      • Work with Doc Control specialist to ensure all key-ins are correct.
      • Work with scheduler planner on scheduling conflicts or any push-outs.
      • Work closely with purchasing, quality, manufacturing managers to schedule and complete per Accudynamics schedule.
      • Attend production meetings and give relevant input pertaining to assembly.
  • Maintain Quality System and Other Associated Records
      • Assure all required shop floor documentation is accurately and legibly completed in a timely manner.
      • Partner with QC and actively participate in review and analysis of returned materials and defective products, drive root cause resolution.
      • Regularly interact with the corporate computer programs, accurately input job data.
      • Ensure flow of jobs through the department based on customer demand and Accudynamics schedule.
      • Ensure the department is clean and organized.
      • Ensure proper training on Colbolt laser machine and program all jobs based on customer requirements.
  • Assist in Continuous Improvements
      • Identify opportunities for improvement, drive execution in accordance with company plans, goals and objective.
      • Perform special projects as required.
      • Train Assembly employees on assembly steps and processes to ensure quality and safety.
      • Create work instructions as per manufacturing manager’s request.
      • Work with manufacturing manager on ideas and implementations of continuous improvement to assembly processes.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of mechanical assemblies and assembly processes.
  • Ability to lead others.
  • Some degree of computer literacy, with baseline skills in ERP systems.
  • Good verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to work safely in a variety of situations, follow rules and established processes.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience or equivalent training in a similar role in a production environment.
  • ISO background strongly preferred Medical Device experience nice to have.

WORK ENVIROMENT



This position is generally indoors, in a well-lighted, heated, fan-cooled production environment. All work is primarily standing (90 + % of the shift) with the exception of breaks, lunch periods, and the occasional meeting. Polishing and post machining finishing activities are regular and frequent, and these require a high degree of sanding, heavy polishing, and metal finishing that are combinations of fine motor activities and coarser work. The incumbent is required to regularly lift, carry, bend, move, and manage materials weighing up to 45 pounds each on a regular basis.
