The Sales Engineer is a self-motivated, organized, team-oriented ‘hunter’ who will develop business with medical and scientific instrument manufacturers. In this role, success and failure are short-term steps to long-term success. We are looking for someone to identify, nurture, and grow relationships with OEM decision makers into profitable long-term business.   • Prospecting, lead follow-up, and relationship building with OEMs in life sciences and medical device markets.
  • Ability to manage details and multiple customer projects from concept to production.
  • Interaction with prospects on a technical level to uncover pain, define needs, and solve problems.
  • Develop and execute a goal-driven sales plan that delivers perennial sales and profit growth.
  • Collaborate with our engineering, customer service, and operations teams to solve customer problems.
  • Fail fast, accurately qualify opportunities, and efficiently develop a robust sales pipeline.
  • Achieve annual, quarterly, and monthly sales revenue and profit goals.
  • Identify opportunities to grow through different service or product offerings.
  • Local and national travel up to 80%.
  • All other assigned duties.


  • B.S. in Engineering (Mech. Preferred) with 3-10 years of demonstrated sales success.
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to execute quickly.
  • Analyze customer drawings, problems, and data to create viable solutions, often on the fly.
  • Clearly communicate complex information in an easy to understand manner; strong interpersonal skills are required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Machine shop and/or casting experience a strong plus.
  • Requires drive, ambition, and ability to persevere in the face of rejection.


This position is generally indoors, in a well-lighted, heated, fan-cooled production environment. All work is primarily standing (90 + % of the shift) with the exception of breaks, lunch periods, and the occasional meeting. Polishing and post machining finishing activities are regular and frequent, and these require a high degree of sanding, heavy polishing, and metal finishing that are combinations of fine motor activities and coarser work. The incumbent is required to regularly lift, carry, bend, move, and manage materials weighing up to 45 pounds each on a regular basis.
